Biology Of Spirulina

Spirulina are the free-flowing filamentous cynobacterias. Spirulina shows cylindrical, multicellular trichomes in an open left-hand helix. Spirulina has higher PH and high concentrations of carbonate and bicarbonate. These easily grow naturally in any of the tropical and sub-tropical lakes. Spirulina has basically two types: Platensis and A. maxima. The Platensis occurs in Africa, Asia and South America, whereas the A. maxima is seen in the Central America.
