Manufacturing Processes on Spirulina

Spirulina is the super food that Mother Nature has given us. But have you ever thought how this Spirulina is brought to you in the tablet form. What all processes are performed on the wonder food before it comes into your hand? Let us see the manufacturing process of Spirulina in brief.

Well as we all know that Spirulina is a microscopic fresh water algae. It is grown in the controlled sunshine, in the natural warm and clean environment in lakes that are far away from the polluted zones. Spirulina is grown mostly in pollution free regions to give you the purest products. Once fully grown the Spirulina is taken and converted into dense liquid. This Spirulina liquid is then used for the further processes.

The dense Spirulina liquid is then pumped into the spray driers and at low temperatures they are dried to the powder form. This powdered Spirulina is immediately hermetically vacuum-packed into bags of the desired weight to send to make the Spirulina tablets or simply in small pouches for selling directly in the market.

The Spirulina tablets are made using the direct compression tableting machines. Once the tablets are made they are packed in the desired bottles or jars. The containers used for the Spirulina tablets are first nitrogen flushed so as to minimize their oxygen content. Less oxygen means less oxidation of your Spirulina tablets and more shelf life. Once the tablets are packed in the bottles they are immediately sealed to maintain their purity and freshness. The expiry period of the Spirulina products is generally 3 years from the date of packing.
