SPIRULINA AS A FOOD SUPPLEMENT :

Spirulina is the common name for human and animal food supplements produced primarily from two species of cyanobacteria : Arthrospira platensis, and Arthrospira maxima. These and other Arthrospira species were once classified trait within the genus Spirulina. Now it is established that they are distinct genera, and that the food species belong to Arthrospira; nevertheless, the term "Spirulina" remains the popular name.

HISTORY OF SPIRULINA :

Spirulina is thought to have been a food source for the Aztecs in 16th century Mexico, as its harvesting from Lake Texcoco and sale as cakes is described by one of Cortés' soldiers. The Aztecs called it Tecuitlatl, which means the stone's excrement. Spirulina was found in abundance at the lake by French researchers trait within the 1960s, but there is no reference to its use there as a daily food source after the 16th century. The first large-scale Spirulina production plant, was established in the early 1970s and drew attention worldwide.

Spirulina is also understood to have an even longer history in Chad, as far back as the 9th century Kanem Empire. It is still in daily use today, dried into cakes called "Dihe" or "Die'' which are new to make broths for meals, and in addition sold in markets. The Spirulina is harvested from small lakes and ponds around Lake Chad.

The Spirulina is grown in pollution free environment and away from any other Industry.

Here all the major operations are automatic. The Culture of Spirulina from the ponds is pumped to Pre-filtration Unit for removing any matter of bigger size than Spirulina. The Pre-filtration Unit is developed indigenously comprises of series of specially selected filters to remove any extraneous matter. Then Spirulina is concentrated over harvesting filters and tiny Spirulina cells along with nutrient rich medium is recycled to ponds.

Concentrated Spirulina Biomass is thoroughly washed with clean DM Water to remove any excess Salts & Tiny extraneous matter. The Spirulina Biomass slurry is immediately chilled to less than 5°C & dried in Spray Dryer to retain its natural freshness. Total journey time of Spirulina Ponds to dry powder is 20 minutes. The Special Harvesting Technology makes our Spirulina different from others in Bacteriological and Chemical Quality. Spray Dried Spirulina Powder is packed in air tight containers.

QUALITY CONTROL :

Pond Management
Routine Checks are carried out in pond medium for absence of contaminations. Ponds are replenished with fresh nutrients after every harvest. Ponds are routinely cleaned and closely monitored for cleanliness. Concentration of Individual nutrients of pond medium is tested regularly in Laboratory for time to time up dated of medium concentration. Strict hygienic practices are adopted in & around the ponds.

Each lot is sampled & tested for various Physical, Chemical & Microbiological parameter according to norms of statutory bodies and in house Specifications in Quality Control Department.
